Thad Weber Throws a No-Hitter For Double-A Erie

The Detroit Tigers may not have had a no hitter thrown since Justin Verlander's 2007 performance, but the Tigers organization chalked one up August 22nd. Detroit's Double-A affiliate, the Erie Seawolves, had a game versus the Akron Aeros, the affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. Sure, to the naked eye just looking at the final score, the Seawolves dominated the game, winning 16-0. That's not the half of it. The 24 year old, Thad Weber took 88 pitches to complete a no hitter against the Aeros. He struck out 10 Akron hitters, while he faced just two over the minimum. Weber's chance at perfection ended in the third inning when Danny Worth made an error at second base, allowing Cristo Arnal to reach base. After striking out two in the ninth inning and completing the historic feat, his teammates mobbed him on the mound and the 3,917 Seawolves fans gave him a standing ovation.
