Found February 15, 2012 on Pirates Prospects: Yardbarker Blogger Network

The Pirates Prospects 2012 Annual is expected to be released next week. The book is currently in the final proof and editing process, and should be published by the end of the weekend.

The 2012 Annual takes a look at the major league team, with player profiles for every player on the 40-man roster, and every player invited to Spring Training. We are even prepared to include A.J. Burnett in the book, assuming a deal between the Yankees and Pirates is reached by the end of the weekend.

Along with the profiles on all of the players in major league camp, the Annual takes a look at payroll figures for everyone on the 40-man roster, with a pre-season payroll projection.

A main feature is Matt Bandi’s projection system, featuring 2012 WAR projections for all players, as well as wOBA platoon projections, and the projected MLB standings and award winners for the 2012 season.

The Annual takes an analytical view at the current Pittsburgh Pirates outfield, looking at the debate between power and speed at the corner spots. The book also features an article that looks at what has gone wrong with the free agent signings from the last few years, and how they compare to the other signings in the majors.

The 2012 Annual also features Pitch F/X reports on Charlie Morton, James McDonald, Erik Bedard, Jeff Karstens, Kevin Correia, and Joel Hanrahan; four year forecasts on the other NL Central teams, and an in-depth featured look at the early 1990′s Pirates.

The 2012 Annual is the perfect way to get ready for the 2012 Pittsburgh Pirates season. It can be purchased on the Products Page of the site, either individually, or in a combo pack with the 2012 Prospect Guide. For those of you who have already purchased the Prospect Guide, there is a coupon code on page 204 which gives you a $5 discount on the Annual.

Rumors: Yankees and Pirates getting closer to A.J. Burnett deal

A couple of major hurdles have been cleared in a potential A.J. Burnett deal with the Pirates since this morning. The Yankees and Pirates have apparently settled on a deal where the Pirates will pay between $13 and $15 million of the $33 million Burnett is owed over the next two seasons, according to Andrew Marchand of ESPNNewYork.com. The final number will depend on which prospects...

Rumor: Yankees want Burnett deal done by Saturday

Pitchers and catchers are due to report to camp this Sunday so the Yankees want a deal for A.J. Burnett done by Saturday, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. The Yankees are currently at an impasse with the Pittsburgh Pirates. They are holding out in an attempt to only pay $10 million of the $33 million he is owed while the Yankees are hoping for them to pick up at least...

Source: Yanks close to dealing Burnett to Pirates

NEW YORK (AP) -- A person familiar with the negotiations says the New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Pirates are close to agreement on a trade that would send pitcher A.J. Burnett to the Pittsburgh Pirates for a pair of minor leaguers.

A.J. Burnett Rumors: Wednesday

Kicking off today’s A.J. Burnett watch with an update of my own. Last night I wrote in my blog that the Pittsburgh Pirates shouldn’t cave to the New York Yankees, and instead should wait them out, hoping the Yankees budge on their demand to get more money or more prospects. My feeling was that it doesn’t make sense for the Pirates to rush to take a deal on Tuesday, paying ...

Kovacevic: A.J. deal will pay for Pirates

Seems there are two prominent schools of thought around here regarding the Pirates' pursuit of A.J. Burnett from the New York Yankees.

Our Long National Nightmare Is Over (Reportedly)

Well, after days of breathless anticipation, countless efforts by the Yankees’ media shills to invent a “mystery team” to ratchet up the pressure on the Pirates, and about a billion updates all saying more or less the same thing, the deal for A.J. Burnett appears to be about done.  The latest reports have it down to the last details and expected to go today to the Commissioner’s...

A.J., not O.K. with M.O. V.E. to L.A. (A)

Spring training has arrived! For the Angels, pitchers and catchers report on the 19th. This is going to be one of the more anticipated springs in Tempe in a long time. Adding Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson will do that to a team. From what I heard, the Angels almost added a #5 starter by the name of A.J. Burnett. Burnett, who has been actively shopped by the Yankees, was reportedly...
