With Thanksgiving coming up, I really should be thankful that the Mets are doing the right things regarding uniforms, ticket plans, and Banner Day. Because not much is going right in terms of the roster. Check out this tweet from Joel Sherman:

Mets and Rockies briefly talked about building something around Huston Street and Pelfrey but Mets do not seem overly enamored with Street.

Sooooo, the Mets need a closer, but they won't trade a starter who will probably make about $6 million in 2012 while pushing all Mets fans closer towards the end of the world for a closer who only makes about a million and a half more and has a relatively inexpensive buyout clause for 2013?

Oh wait, I forgot:

"Bob was never good at communication, and I don’t want to speak for anybody else, but it was a sentiment reflected in many conversations during the two years I spent in Oakland, and even recently when talking to guys after I left. For me personally, he was my least favorite person I have ever encountered in sports from age 6 to 27. I am very thankful to be in a place where I can trust my manager." -Huston Street

Aha! So it's Mets new bench coach Bob Geren that isn't overly enamored with him. Now I get it. Or maybe he is enamored with him. Who knows, we do know that however Geren feels about Street, he wouldn't be any good at communicating it anyway. But aside from whether Geren really had anything to do with this or not (probably not, but it's fun to irresponsibly speculate), not enamored with Huston Street even if it means getting rid of Mike Pelfrey? Who the $#%& is enamored with Mike Pelfrey enough to turn down a deal for Street straight up? And who else did they want that is so untouchable? Fernando Martinez and his ligaments taken from cadavers? Are they that afraid of filling Pelfrey's spot by giving Chris Capuano the two-year deal he wants? For the love of hump, D.J. Carrasco got a two year deal! But we're stuck with Mike Pelfrey again because Capuano has left the Mets radar with one extra year and Bob Geren chooses to communicate like a monk?
