The Giants were down to their final strike on Sunday night, at risk of falling behind 1-2 in the NLDS to the Atlanta Braves. Cue Brooks Conrad’s third error of the game that brought home two Giants runs in the 9th inning. Now, cue the internet fury. Sunday night closed with “Brooks Conrad” as the second-most searched phrase on Google. That’s right. Higher than BSC rankings, NFL scores and pumpkin carving templates. If it wasn’t for Jonathan Lipnicki and his damn human heads that weigh eight pounds, Conrad would have taken the top spot. Through the entirety of Sunday night, Twitter chatter surrounding the Giants/Braves game was so strong, even “Bill Buckner” showed up on the national Twitter trends. Next to “Brooks Conrad”, of course. Outside of search engine queries and micro-blogging, you can’t define yourself as “internet-dominant” unless you submit yourself to the whimsy of snappy sports headlines...
