Jody Gerut hit for the cycle Saturday night as the Brewers staged another offensive outburst: The cycle was the 32-year-old outfielder’s first and the sixth in Brewers history. Gerut hit a solo home run in the second inning, singled in the third, drove in a run with a triple in the fifth and added a two-run double in the ninth. Despite his performance Gerut didn’t use the opportunity to lobby for more playing time. “I’m anxious for nothing. I’m thankful for everything I get in the game,” Gerut said. “I’ve been to the precipice and looked over the edge. I was out for two years, so I’ve got perspective probably better than most other players.” Five of Jody’s eight hits this season went for extra bases, as he owns a very low batting average but a high slugging percentage (.222/.500). Gerut’s offense was part of a 17-3 Brewers win over the Diamondbacks. Milwaukee continues to post a strange distribution of runs. ...
