If you thought the Miami Marlins had trouble putting fans in the stands in years past, wait until you get a load of what they are doing this year. Now that the team has decided to fire Ozzie Guillen and trade Jose Reyes, Josh Johnson and Mark Buehrle to the Toronto Blue Jays, interest in the upcoming season seems lower than ever. Aside from Giancarlo Stanton, there isn’t much that is going to inspire Marlins fans (if there are any) to attend a game. However, we have some good news for those Marlins fans who actually enjoy attending games at the brand new ballpark the team just built in Miami. If you purchase a ticket to the Marlins home opener against the Atlanta Braves on April 8th, you will receive a ticket to any other game of your choice — on the house. According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Marlins ran a promotion last year where fans who purchased a season-ticket package would be entered into a lottery for a chance to score a ticket to the first ever game at the new ...

This is How Bad Miami Marlins Ticket Sales Are Going

Unlike other sports, Opening Day in Major League Baseball is one of—if not the—most highly attended game for each club in the league. Hope springs eternal for all teams, and fans that have pent up energy over the long, cold winter are ready to begin thinking about the warming days of summer. So, it’s no surprise that the one game of the year that nearly every club has little...

Is Carlos Zambrano Really Retiring?

Don’t call it a comeback, Carlos Zambrano has been threatening to retire for years. The former Chicago Cubs pitcher has told fans and the media he’s retiring on more than one occasion and, still, there he is, pitching in the World Baseball Classic.  Surely you remember when he cleaned out his locker and walked out on the team in 2011, but do you recall the comments he made...

JUPITER, Fla. (AP) -- Nathan Eovaldi allowed one run in four innings and John Maine followed with two scoreless innings Friday to help the Miami Marlins beat the New York Yankees 6-1. Maine, who hasn't pitched in the major leagues since 2010, is competing for the fifth spot in the Marlins rotation. New York starter Adam Warren allowed four runs and six hits in four innings. In...

Miami Marlins have resorted to going 2-for-1 to try to sell tickets for Opening Day

The Miami Marlins are so desperate to sell tickets to Opening Day that they are literally giving one away for free for every ticket bought.

Marlins Official: We’re Never Going To Sign Stanton To A Longterm Deal

Bill Madden of the Daily News had an interesting quote in his article today about the Yankees and their apparent need for more power in the lineup. What caught my attention was a quote from a Marlins’ operative about the future of 22-year old All Star Giancarlo Stanton. According to Miami owner Jeffrey Loria, is “absolutely not available.” But despite Loria’s insistence...

Nolasco impresses, Marlins fall to Mets 4-1

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (AP) -- Matt Harvey was nearly perfect for 4 1-3 shutout innings, pitching the New York Mets past the Miami Marlins 4-1 Thursday. Harvey didn't give up a hit or walk, and struck out five. The only baserunner against him reached on an error. The Mets right-hander is set to begin his first full season in the majors. Marlins starter Ricky Nolasco was almost...

Bryce Harper Destroys Jon Rauch & an MLB 13 The Show Review

Jon Rauch’s video game slider just lost it’s virginity. I finally figured out how to hit on this game. It’s coming together folks. If you haven’t bought the game yet and you’re wondering what to expect, read a full review on MLB 13 The Show over at Kotaku. I’m going back to hitting cyber bombs.

Morrow and Johnson quite the one-two punch

Josh Johnson faced a split squad Braves team in Florida yesterday. But he still had to face the two Upton brothers and Heyward. The results were about as impressive as you could ask for. He pitched three and two-thirds innings and yielded no hits and no walks and struck out five. He has yet to walk a batter this spring and his strikeout to walk ratio is eight to zero. Yes, it is...
