Found December 03, 2012 on Oriole Post:
This week, the annual MLB Winter Meetings will be taking place in Nashville, Tennessee. Once again, fans and the baseball world are looking forward to what happens. The Orioles, as we all know, flew high during the 2012 season, winning 93 games, regaining a fan base and delivering a world of possibilities that few could have dreamed of. Now that we are in December, the Orioles have to do more with their roster if they plan to win again like they did in 2012. The organization has a good core of players at the major league level and the minor league system looks to be improved – somewhat; however, team needs a bat and perhaps another arm despite the success of a patchwork rotation and diamonds in the rough like Miguel Gonzalez, plus the emergence of Chris Tillman. The Red Sox and Blue Jays are retooling, but what are the Orioles planning to do? Quite a few players will be getting raises either through their contracts, or arbitration, so the payroll will probably be going up. T...

O’s wise to part ways with Reynolds

I don’t know if I have ever seen more of an outcry from a fan base on the release of a player that hit .221 and struck out 36% of his at bats in his two-year stint in Baltimore, but that is what has happened with Mark Reynolds. His ability to hit moon shot homeruns and catch pop-ups while tumbling over the field tarp catapulted Reynolds into a fan favorite that many fear will be...

Better Know a 2012 Oriole: Chris Tillman

In part nine of my (hopefully) 52 part series, Better Know a 2012 Oriole, I take a look at Chris Tillman... the fightin' returning fastball! "'When the Orioles acquired Chris Tillman from the Mariners in the Erik Bedard trade, he was considered a top prospect. Mid 90s fastball, big curve, good numbers in the minors at a young age. Tillman continued that minor league...

The arbitration deadline has come and gone, and to the dismay of many Baltimore Orioles fans, the O’s non-tendered 1B Mark Reynolds and he is now an unrestricted free agent. Both are now free agents Fans held onto hope until the clock finally struck midnight, that Baltimore and Reynolds would be able to get something done, but the Orioles had no intention of doing so. According...

Orioles in on Adam LaRoche

Adam LaRoche may not have far to travel if he does not re-sign with the Washington Nationals this season.  The Baltimore Orioles appear to be real players in the pursuit of the veteran first baseman.  Staying in the Maryland/D.C. area may not exactly be the selling point that LaRoche is looking for, but it couldn't hurt. Jayson Stark of ESPN says the Orioles are one of...

Orioles interested in Brett Myers, outfield upgrades

The Baltimore Orioles don’t plan to make big changes to a roster that produced 93 wins and the franchise’s first postseason berth in 15 years. The team has downplayed the chances it will sign an expensive superstar like Josh Hamilton, focusing instead on lower-cost veteran acquisitions. The Orioles have interest in free-agent right-hander Brett Myers as a rotation upgrade, sources...

Garrett Jones and the Orioles: Actual Rumors or Connecting the Dots?

The Pittsburgh Pirates are shopping Garrett Jones. The Baltimore Orioles are looking for a power bat. There are a lot of articles coming out about the Orioles possibly being interested in Jones. It’s hard to tell if these are based on any actual discussions, or if it’s a case of people connecting the dots. The Orioles want a power bat and could trade pitching to get that. The...
