We all knew after that EPIC FAIL of the Boston Red Sox at the end of the season that repercussions were going to come, and come swiftly. The Red Sox have already gotten rid of manager Terry Francona. And now the next to go is VP/GM Theo Epstein. This one is a little different though.
Instead of being forced out publicly as Francona was, Epstein was highly recruited by the Chicago Cubs. And this week it was reported that the Cubs and Epstein have come to an agreement on the hiring of Theo Epstein. Though no official title has been announced, its believed that for him to leave Boston he is most likely getting a more important title, and thus more control. The deal is believed to be worth between $15-20 million.
Epstein was an integral part of the resurgence of the Red Sox, including their two World Series Championships in 2004 and 2007. The Cubs are hoping he brings his talent for finding talent to the Second City.
