Loria-watches-from-the
Baseball teams have "bad" season's because of many reasons. The team has terrible pitching. Their hitting, or fielding sucks. The managers a total jerk, and in the Boston Red Sox case this season, players just refuse to perform for a manager they don't care for. Miami Marlin owner Jeffrey Loria, on Friday when the team took their "official" team photo, told reporters he plans to "rectify" and "fix" his underachieving team. Loria said he will meet with his front office staff following the season to "see" what action to take. He added, "maybe this season there were "ABERRATIONS." Loria "selecting" that word to describe his teams last place standing got me thinking. When was the last time I heard an owner, front office executive, team manager, players, or fans say, "yes, we had a bad year, a bad season, "but" I have to blame it on "ABERRATIONS!" Fiers homecoming spoiled by bad inning

This wasn't exactly the homecoming Mike Fiers was looking for. Having grown up less than an hour away from Miami's new stadium in nearby Pompano Beach, Fiers' friends and family were in attendance for his start against the Marlins, and unfortunately, they didn't get to see his best work. One of the more consistent options all season, Fiers walked three batters in...

Marlins owner will wait to evaluate poor season

MIAMI (AP) -- Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria says he will wait until after the season before evaluating his disappointing team. Not long after Miami's team picture was taken Friday afternoon, Loria offered little when asked what the photo might look like in 2013. "I thought this team was a contender this year. We have to figure out what went wrong," Loria said. The...

Pitching has spurred the New York Mets' recent surge. That could continue while visiting the punchless Miami Marlins. The Mets are hoping rookie Jeremy Hefner can keep them rolling with another dazzling effort as they go for a sixth win in seven games Saturday night against the Marlins. New York's staff has compiled a 2.00 ERA while holding opponents to a .208 batting...

Cishek save bid goes awry, Mets rally to beat Marlins 5-3

MIAMI – The way Marlins pitcher Josh Johnson was throwing for eight innings, Mets backup catcher Kelly Shoppach didn’t think his team had “much of a chance.” But the Mets erupted for four runs in the ninth to earn a 5-3 win over Miami before 26,402 fans at Marlins Park. Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen took Johnson out after eight innings and 105 pitches, inserting normally...
