Third-overall draft pick in the 2013 MLB Amateur Draft, Jonathan Gray, agreed to terms with the Colorado Rockies on Thursday.Although complete details regarding terms and conditions of the signing are to be determined, Gray is reported to receive $4.8 million, well below the $5.6 million that Colorado was slotted to spend on its third-overall selection.Gray will make his professional debut with rookie affiliate Grand Junction this season, where they will most likely keep the flamethrower under 60 innings of work as he already had pitched over 120 innings for the University of Oklahoma this spring.Scouted as one of the top prospects available in the draft this spring, Gray pitched masterfully for an Oklahoma Sooners team that would win the Blacksburg Regional before being ousted from the NCAA Tournament by LSU in super regional play earlier this week.In 17 starts this Oklahoma this season, Gray posted a 10-3 record and 1.64 ERA along with a 147/24 strikeout to walk ratio in 126.1 innings of work.Gray possesses a scorching fastball that consistently sits in the high-90s and can touch triple digits, along with a plus slider that has baffled college hitters all season long. Gray has the poise and skill set to move through the Rockies organization quickly, so be sure to watch for the electrifying pitching prospect as he ascends the minors within the next few months and the 2014 season.

Troy Tulowitzki and Everything In-Between

I’m going to come right out and say this is another FanGraphs article about batter pace. That is, the average amount of seconds between each pitch thrown to the batter, as determined by PITCHf/x time stamps. I haven’t gone to this well in a while, and I know it doesn’t appeal to everyone, since pace doesn’t mean much when it comes to determining future or present performance...
