You know damn well that if Angel Pagan was wearing a Mets uniform the ball would have rolled to the wall, everybody on the planet earth would have scored, and Pagan would still be in left center field asking somebody what the fastest route to the ball was. Instead, he's a San Francisco Giant and this ball landed softly in his glove, and the Giants completed their comeback, winning three games in Cincinnati. The Giants, with Angel Pagan, Guillermo Mota, Marco Scutaro, Joaquin Arias, and Xavier Nady, are in the NLCS.And we might be headed for an Angel Pagan vs. Carlos Beltran NLCS. Wonderful. This would mean that for the second year in a row, I'm forced to root for the St. Louis Cardinals in a playoff series. Thanks a lot, Mayans.

Lincecum, Zito Among Least Valuable Pitchers

Over at Beyond the Boxscore, Glenn DuPaul took a look at the least valuable players this season based on what a player produced on the field compared to what the team payed him. On this list are two of the Giants pitchers, Barry Zito and Tim Lincecum. It shouldn't be too much of a surprise to people that have watched the Giants. Neither of these guys were all that good...

Melky Cabrera reinstated to San Francisco Giants Roster

Melky Cabrera was in the middle of an MVP-type season for the San Francisco Giants in 2012, when it was revealed that he tested positive for a performance-enhancing substance. He was suspended 50 games by Major League Baseball on August 15. Cabrera has now served that suspension and was reinstated to the Giants’ 40-man roster on Friday, which means he is technically eligible to...

Tim Lincecum Gets Champagne Facial and Says He Knows How Chicks Feel Now (Video)

"Now I know what chicks feel like" is what my man Tim Lincecum said last night when he got a champagne facial after the San Francisco Giants beat the Reds and moved on to the NLDS.  He then dropped a little F bomb at the end of the video to cap it off.  That's why cameras in these kind of moments are the best.  Honestly can't believe we didn't hear anything...

Lincecum is the old Timmy again

Tim Lincecum, reliever. Sounds pretty good after all. Lincecum was demoted to the bullpen for the playoffs because his numbers were worse than Barry Zito's (especially late in the season), but the two-time Cy Young Award winner made a huge impact Wednesday in Game 4 of the National League Division Series. Out of the bullpen, he threw 4 1/3 innings for the win in the Giants...

Giants coach Kelly out with concussion

San Francisco Giants first base coach Roberto Kelly will miss at least the first two games of the NL championship series with a concussion after being hit in the back of the head by a foul ball in batting practice. Giants manager Bruce Bochy said before Game 1 against St. Louis that Kelly remains at home recovering a day after being hit by a ball off the bat of Buster Posey. Bochy...

Posey's slam lifts Giants to NLCS

Buster Posey came to Cincinnati wondering whether the San Francisco Giants were long for the postseason. Down 2-0 in the best-of-five National League Division Series to the Cincinnati Reds, Posey, a leading candidate for the league's MVP award in his first season back from a serious ankle injury, had been scuffling at the plate with a 3-for-17 start in the first four-plus games...

Bumgarner will start NLCS Game 1

Left-hander Madison Bumgarner will pitch Game 1 of the NL championship series at home Sunday against the St. Louis Cardinals. Manager Bruce Bochy chose right-hander Ryan Vogelsong as his Game 2 starter for Monday. The Giants waited out the ending of the wild-card Cardinals' thrilling comeback at Washington on their team plane in Cincinnati before heading home to the Bay Area...

Giants catcher Buster Posey hits grand slam

Tweet The Cincinnati Reds and San Francisco Giants are currently playing the deciding game of their best-of-5 series today to advance to the NL championship series. The Giants were up 2-0 in the 5th inning before catcher Buster Posey did this off of Reds starter Mat Latos: Your browser does not support iframes. The Reds [...]

Suspended Melky Cabrera reinstated

San Francisco outfielder Melky Cabrera has been reinstated by Major League Baseball after serving a 50-game suspension for a positive testosterone test, but he will not be part of the Giants' playoff roster.

Reds season ends with Game 5 loss to Giants

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Buster Posey hit the third grand slam in Giants' postseason history, and San Francisco completed its startling comeback by holding off the Cincinnati Reds 6-4 Thursday in the decisive Game 5 of the NL division series. The Giants won the final three games, all in Cincinnati, and advanced to the NL championship series. They will face either St. Louis or Washington...

Just a few quick thoughts on baseball's Division League Series

Well, the San Francisco Giants are the first of the postseason teams to move on, eliminating the Reds in Game 5. The Washington Nationals are fighting for their lives right now against the Cards, and tonight Baltimore and the Yanks and the A's and Tigers both have match-ups. What I find interesting is that not a single division series was a sweep. Every single one of them has...

Giants beat Reds to advance to NLCS

Buster Posey insisted all along -- even after San Francisco lost the first two at home -- that his team was far from done, no matter how long the odds. Turns out, he was right. And the NL batting champion had a lot to do with this most Giant comeback. Posey hit the third grand slam in Giants postseason history on Thursday, and San Francisco pulled off an unprecedented revival,...

Reds lose at home to Giants, series now 2-2

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Angel Pagan led off the game with a home run, Gregor Blanco and Pablo Sandoval connected later and Tim Lincecum came out of the bullpen to help the San Francisco Giants beat the Cincinnati Reds 8-3 on Wednesday, evening their NL division series at 2-all. The Giants can complete an unprecedented comeback on Thursday. No team has recovered from a 2-0 deficit in...

Seasons Collide ... Somewhere Else

Carlos Beltran was the Mets center fielder from 2005-2010.Angel Pagan was the Mets center fielder in 2011. Now they battle each other in the NLCS ... in two uniforms other than the Mets, of course. (Maybe they'll get together and thank their lucky stars that they're out of Flushing.)You young lads especially have to understand one thing about me: I'm an old man. Most...
