Tigers to put RHP Fister on DL, recall RHP Villarreal

The Detroit Tigers will place righthander Doug Fister on the disabled list on Sunday and recall righthander Brayan Villarreal from Triple-A Toledo, the team announced. Fister exited Saturday's game against the Boston Red Sox with a strain in his left side. Manager Jim Leyland and trainer Kevin Rand came out to check on Fister after he showed discomfort in the middle of an at...

The New Bash Brothers in Motown??

Saturday we got a glimpse of the kind of power the Detroit Tigers are working with in the middle of their lineup. You can see all four home runs by watching the videos here The power potential is pretty uncanny between these two dudes to a point where I think...

Tigers Prospect Profile #1: Jacob Turner

For the second straight season, the Tigers top prospect in the organization is right-hander Jacob Turner. The youngster came into spring camp this season with a chance to win the fifth starter's job in the big league rotation, but a slow starter coupled with tendinitis killed that opportunity. Still, what has the Tigers so excited and optimistic about his future?

If they keep coming up big in the clutch, the Detroit Tigers will continue to be overwhelming favorites to win a second consecutive AL Central crown. Tigers stay unbeaten with win over Rays

DETROIT (AP) -- Miguel Cabrera doubled and scored on Prince Fielder's single, part of a snowy eighth-inning rally that gave the Detroit Tigers a 5-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday. After Fielder's tiebreaking single, a light snow shower passed briefly over Comerica Park. Jhonny Peralta added a sacrifice fly later in the inning, and Gerald Laird's RBI single gave...

Walk-off homer powers Tigers to sweep of Red Sox

Alex Avila hit a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th inning off Mark Melancon as the Detroit Tigers came from behind on two occasions in the late innings to complete a three-game sweep of the Boston Red Sox 13-12. Miguel Cabrera hit a three-run homer to tie it in the bottom of the ninth and finished with five RBIs and three runs scored for the Tigers. The Red Sox...

Sox swept out of Detroit to open the season

Alex Avila's walk-off Sunday swept the Red Sox out of Detroit It’s been one weekend of baseball for the Boston Red Sox and already the nation is in panic. On one hand, its understandable. Red Sox fans have been told all off-season that they were going to purge the evils of the collapse of September. That collapse mostly happened because the Red Sox forgot how to pitch a ball...

The Boston Red Sox disappoint in their opening weekend against the Detroit Tigers

Well I really can't imagine a worse possible start for the 2012 Boston Red Sox as they were swept by the Detroit Tigers this weekend.  It wasn't the fact they now begin the season 0-3, but more of the manner on how they lost each game.  When they hit, they couldn't pitch, when they pitched, they couldn't hit.  Today I'm doing a little better and...

There are four undefeated teams left in baseball, and two of them begin a series today in Detroit. The Tampa Bay Rays and Detroit Tigers had sweeps on Opening Weekend of highly-hyped, large market teams, with the Rays handling the Yankees and the Tigers beating up on the Red Sox. The Tigers succeeded in the first series of the year by bludgeoning the hell out of the Red Sox, scoring...
