For the second straight season, the Tigers top prospect in the organization is right-hander Jacob Turner. The youngster came into spring camp this season with a chance to win the fifth starter's job in the big league rotation, but a slow starter coupled with tendinitis killed that opportunity. Still, what has the Tigers so excited and optimistic about his future?
DETROIT (AP) -- Miguel Cabrera doubled and scored on Prince Fielder's single, part of a snowy eighth-inning rally that gave the Detroit Tigers a 5-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday.
After Fielder's tiebreaking single, a light snow shower passed briefly over Comerica Park. Jhonny Peralta added a sacrifice fly later in the inning, and Gerald Laird's RBI single gave...

Alex Avila's walk-off Sunday swept the Red Sox out of Detroit
It’s been one weekend of baseball for the Boston Red Sox and already the nation is in panic.
On one hand, its understandable. Red Sox fans have been told all off-season that they were going to purge the evils of the collapse of September. That collapse mostly happened because the Red Sox forgot how to pitch a ball...
There are four undefeated teams left in baseball, and two of them begin a series today in Detroit. The Tampa Bay Rays and Detroit Tigers had sweeps on Opening Weekend of highly-hyped, large market teams, with the Rays handling the Yankees and the Tigers beating up on the Red Sox. The Tigers succeeded in the first series of the year by bludgeoning the hell out of the Red Sox, scoring...
Well I really can't imagine a worse possible start for the 2012 Boston Red Sox as they were swept by the Detroit Tigers this weekend. It wasn't the fact they now begin the season 0-3, but more of the manner on how they lost each game. When they hit, they couldn't pitch, when they pitched, they couldn't hit. Today I'm doing a little better and...
