PLAYERS: Daryl Jones
TEAMS: Cincinnati Reds

The Reds have signed former Cardinals Top 5 prospect Daryl Jones. He isn’t quite the same prospect as he once was, as his speed isn’t thought to be enough to stay in center or have quite the bat for the corner. He seems a little like a Chris Dickerson type of prospect, with slightly less speed and a little less arm. Usually a topic reserved for Wednesday gets pushed to Thursday with an out of whack week while trying to catch back up on the news that was missed because of the Top Prospect lists last week. The rules for the AQA are as usual: You get three questions. Avoid questions with really long answers. Avoid questions that will require me to do some research to answer it. Ask before midnight.

The left-handed hitting and throwing Jones will be entering his seventh professional season in 2012, all of which coming in...

Cincinnati Reds fireballer Aroldis Chapman will not pitch in winter ball this year after the club opted to allow his sore shoulder to heal.Chapman was scratched from his start in the Arizona Fall League last week, and the Reds are concerned that allowing him to pitch for Puerto Rico over the winter could cause further damage.Reds general manager Walt Jocketty assured reporters that...

Reds Need to Pursue James Shields

So, I’ve been reading multiple bits of speculation about what the Reds should/will do this offseason, and I thought it was time to weigh in with what I think the offseason plan should be. But, I don’t want to just go flailing and suggest, for instance, that the Reds should trade Drew Stubbs, Homer Bailey, and Edinson Volquez to the Mariners for Felix Hernandez. That kind of trade...

No Winter Ball for Chapman

From John Fay and the Enquirer: Aroldis Chapman is back throwing pain-free, but Winter Ball is no longer part of his offseason plan. “We’ve decided against sending him to Puerto Rico,” Walt Jocketty said. “He’s on a strength-and-conditioning program in Arizona. He’ll go to Florida after that and continue to work out.” Chapman made two appearances in the Arizona Fall...

Robinson the best Red ever

Eliminate the Charlie Hustle aspect, and what's left? A whole bunch of hits, and a couple of all-time World Series victories. Let's not demean any of that. But I'm going with Frank Robinson as the greatest of all the Cincinnati Reds . Not Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan - or going way back, Edd Roush. Frank Robinson hasn't played with the Reds for 46 years, wasn...

Speed, not K's, can be Stubbs' identifiable trait

Drew Stubbs' speed should have been the catalyst to drive the Cincinnati offense in 2011. He was the hardest player to induce a double play from and swiped 40 bags, but struck out a club-record 205 times.

1975 World Series better than 2011?

I was not even close to being born yet when the Reds beat the Red Sox in seven games in 1975 to win the World Series, but any Reds fan, or even baseball fan for that matter, pretty much knows what happened in that series. Carlton Fisk appeared "to will" a walk off home run fair in Game 6, and then the Reds came back the next night to win Game 7 and the Series. That series...
