Wasn’t it great last year, when the Sand Diego Padres were in contention unexpectedly? They had Adrian Gonzalez playing at his peak, one of the best bullpens in the game and of course, Oscar Salazar. Let me run through some of Salazar’s highlights from last year: - On June 21st against Seattle, Salazar had a home run and three RBI - At Colorado on September 13th, he had a pinch hit blast that helped the team win 6-4. - He managed to play 6 different positions (including designated hitter) This offseason however, has seen the Pads break the team up a bit. Sure, they signed Aaron Harang, and the bullpen has held itself together. Unfortunately, though, Gonzalez was traded and Salazar, a key component, obviously, to the Padres last year, was released. Today, however, Salazar has signed on with the Marlins, where his numerous skills, from his batting average above the Mendoza line to his hand full of home runs to his ability to play several positions more or less adequately. ...
