It took all of five innings replacing Austin Jackson in center field for Ezequiel Carrera to make a play Austin Jackson never would have made. Monday night against the Yankees, Carrera ran down a Jacoby Ellsbury fly ball and made a ridiculous diving catch onto the Yankee Stadium warning track.
The 27-year old has played bits of three seasons in the Bigs prior to this year in which he’ll platoon with Rajai Davis following the trade of Austin Jackson to the Mariners.
I have even money saying Max Scherzer will be paying for Carrera’s dinner tonight. Go big, kid.
