Who is the greatest Tiger’s pitcher ever: McLain or Verlander?   McLain and Verlander: Which Tiger Burned Brighter? 1968 is a year Detroit Tiger fans know well, but it also had a sweeping significance for MLB in general. Fielder leads offensive surge in 10-2 win

DETROIT -- No matter the sport, good teams are supposed to fatten up their record against weak and struggling opponents. For once, the Tigers remembered to do that. Facing an Indians team in the middle of a horrific road trip, the Tigers put 22 runners on base and cruised to an easy 10-2 victory Friday night. "This is a nice way to start the homestand everybody doing something...

Leyland's lefty-heavy lineup pays off

Managers, like everyone, have good days and bad days -- sometimes on the same day. Jim Leyland played the odds Friday night and saw it pay off for him in a 10-2 Detroit Tigers victory over the Cleveland Indians. He did something he hasn't done with this Tigers team -- lining up five left-handed hitters against Indians right-hander Justin Masterson -- because it would leave...
