Detroit Tigers designated hitter Victor Martinez is expected to play Wednesday despite suffering a strained oblique muscle Tuesday night.
Martinez suffered the injury on a fourth-inning swing that resulted in a home run. He ran very gingerly around the bases and threw a batting helmet in disgust after returning to the dugout, but remained in the game, a 5-2 victory over the Texas Rangers.
Teammate Delmon Young has a similar injury and also could play Wednesday after missing Games 1 and 3.
Martinez is 5-for-27 with two homers and four RBI in the postseason. Young is 6-for-23 with three homers and three RBI.
The Tigers won Tuesday but still trail the Rangers, 2-1, in the American League Championship Series.
