There is no secret that the Detroit Tigers have a huge gap at second-base. During the 2011 MLB season it was a merry-go-round at second-base. Five different players (Will Rhymes, Ryan Raburn, Ramon Santiago, Scott Sizemore, Carl0s Guillen) were at the position through out the 2011 season. With MLB free-agency in full swing the Tigers will need to look for someone to fill that gapping hole in the infield.
One player comes to mind, Kelly Johnson: Johnson, who is 29, has had a few quite — but good years in the MLB. Johnson is coming off a year where he hit .222 with 21 HRs and 58 RBIs. A down year compared to 2010 when Johnson put carrer numbers, .284/.370/.496. Don’t let that discourge you when thinking of Kelly Johnson as a potential option for second-base.
