Detroit Tigers right-handed reliever Octavio Dotel continues to deal with inflammation in his throwing elbow. It’s limited his availability and impacted his effectiveness so far this season, and it could ultimately require a stint on the disabled list, according to Jason Beck of MLB.com. Dotel told reporters that the inflammation in his elbow is lingering, and that he or the Tigers’ training staff haven’t been able to get it to go away. “The inflammation’s still there,” Dotel said. “It doesn’t go away. We’re just going to see how it will be on Tuesday. I haven’t gotten the swelling to go away,” he said. “It’s still there. I’m just trying to get through that, but it’s still there and hopefully we just found out a way to get out.” The injury has caused Dotel to be unavailable for several games – including Sunday’s series finale against the Los Angeles Angels. If he’s also not going to be available for Tuesday’s opener against the Kansas City Royals, the Tigers may elect to place him on the DL rather than continue with a short-handed bullpen. So far this season, Dotel has allowed seven runs over six appearances spanning 4 2/3 innings. Follow @mlbinjurynews Looking for fantasy baseball advice?
