CLEVELAND (AP) -- Torii Hunter drove in three runs, Miguel Cabrera cracked a two-run homer and the Detroit Tigers dominated Cleveland again, pounding the second-place Indians 9-4 on Saturday for their fifth straight win. Hunter hit a two-run homer, tripled and doubled as the Tigers won their seventh consecutive game over the Indians and increased their lead in the AL Central to 3 games. Needing a single for a rare cycle, Hunter grounded out in the eighth. Detroit is 8-2 against Cleveland this season, and the Tigers have outscored the Indians 16-4 in winning the first two games of the four-game series. Anibal Sanchez (7-5) returned from the disabled list and pitched five innings for his first win since June 4. Cabrera and Prince Fielder homered in the third off Carlos Carrasco (0-4), who was recalled from the minors to face the AL's best hitting team. Nick Swisher and Ryan Raburn went deep for Cleveland, which has dropped four straight. In the eighth, the Tigers learned that Cabr...

Torontoii Hunter makes MLB All Star team according to ESPN

When announcing the MLB All Star teams on Saturday night, ESPN made a bit of a mistake on the AL All Star reserves.  Rather than list Torii Hunter of the Detroit Tigers, Torontoii Hunter was listed.  No word on Torontoii’s career stats, but I imagine they’re pretty bad.  Good job, good effort, ESPN.  Perhaps a little proofreading next time? Torontoii Hunter? Must be a new...

Torii Hunter and Miguel Cabrera are two big reasons the Detroit Tigers have dominated the Cleveland Indians this season. The veteran pair again looks to lead the visiting Tigers as they try for an eighth consecutive victory over the struggling Indians on Sunday. Photo: Miguel Cabrera literally flattens a baseball upon contact

There's a reason why last year Miguel Cabrera took home baseball's first Triple Crown in decades and is threatening to do so once again. He flattens baseballs, enough said.

Photographic Evidence That Miguel Cabrera Is An Absolute Freak Of Nature

It may just be me, but I thought that baseballs were not supposed to be able to be flattened like this. You have to love the phantom camera when it produces images like this. All evidence would seem to suggest that Miguel Cabrera swings a baseball bat hard. [Dane Brugler] Article found on: Next Impulse Sports

Miguel Cabrera Shown Flattening Baseball in Slow-Motion Replay of Home Run (Photo)

We’ve heard of tearing the cover off a baseball, but flattening one? That’s new. Miguel Cabrera hit a home run so hard on Sunday that when the ball made contact with the bat, it flattened. The ball traveled 412 feet and came off the bat at 104.4 mph, according to hittrackeronline.com. This is likely not the first time Cabrera, nor any other MLB player, has flattened a baseball...

Tigers' Cabrera out with hip injury

American League MVP and Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera was unavailable for the Detroit Tigers against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night because of an injured left hip. Player of the Game: Torii Hunter (3-for-5) with a double, triple, homer, and 3 RBI The Leadoff Still believe Tribe Town? Awesome Amazingness? More like Abominable Awfulness. A four run third inning and a three run fourth was more than enough runs for the surging Detroit offense as they took down the Indians 9-4 on Saturday. Carrasco’s struggles continue Well, at least he didn’t...

Breaking Down the Season’s Most Unlikely Double Steal

Some years ago, when they were up-and-coming instead of bad, Yuniesky Betancourt and Jose Lopez were both Seattle Mariners. The Mariners are well known for their advertising campaigns, and in one they pitched Betancourt and Lopez as the “double play twins,” middle infielders who did everything together, both on and off the field. Betancourt and Lopez, at the time, had a lot in...
