Tim Bogar was a candidate for the Astros' managerial vacancy. But after interviewing for the job last month, the Astros elected to hire Bo Porter away from the Nationals. Despite the decision, Houston showed enough interest in the Red Sox bench coach to offer him the same position with the organization. That wasn't enough to entice Bogar. The 45-year-old -- who was not interviewed for Boston's managerial opening -- told ESPNBoston.com that while he appreciated the interest, he turned it down. "I thanked the Astros organization for giving me an opportunity," Bogar said. "I'm sorry and it wasn’t a good fit right now and I wish Bo Porter and the Astros the best of luck." It was the second time Bogar, whose contract with Boston will expire on Oct. 31, has interviewed for a job with the Astros. He has history with Houston, since he played for the franchise for four seasons from 1997 to 2000. When the Red Sox fired manager Bobby Valentine after the season, it put Bogar and the rest of his coaching staff in limbo. During the 2012 season, Bogar was also rumored to have a frosty relationship with Valentine. Of all the coaches, only hitting coach Dave Magadan has left so far, having taken the same position with the Rangers. Thumbnail via Facebook/Tim Bogar
