From Larry Brown Sports:

Tim Lincecum appears to be the latest professional athlete to cut his signature long hair.

A few days ago, we shared a video of snowboarder Shaun White cutting off his iconic long red locks. Now, pictures have surfaced of the San Francisco Giants pitcher sporting a cropped hairdo.

A Seattle hair stylist named Jake Gravbrot first shared the news over Twitter on Dec. 9 that Lincecum had cut his hair. Gravbrot made it clear that he did not cut Lincecum's hair, but he does think it signifies a "fresh start" for the pitcher.

Lincecum's hair was actually short when he first came up with the Giants, and when he pitched for the University of Washington. The two-time Cy Young Award winner began growing out his hair around 2008, which was his second season in the bigs. After a nice five-year ride, it looks like he's gone back to his shorter hair.

Giants fans are hoping the haircut will have a reverse-Samson effect and help the pitcher regain his All-Star form following a poor 2012 campaign.

  • Great pitcher.
  • If I was born without a brain and had nothing worthwhile to contribute to society, I guess this is what I'd write about. What an absurd non-article. Is this the best Larry Brown Sports can come up with. Looks more like we need less journalists, if this is the best they can come up with. Internet journalism literally sucks.
  • he's washed up, has no velocity anymore. At best, he'll be a relief pitcher, so the haircut is a good idea, new start as a mediocre pitcher.
  • you know, of course, that statistically he was the Giants best pitcher in the last month of the season. ALL pitchers lose their velocity, you moron, he's not 22 anymore. The question is not the velocity...the question is if a thrower can become a pitcher! Lincecum is a pitcher
