Hunter Belushi  You hear it all the time. You'll never see a guy do things quite like Hunter Pence. Hell, even Hunter himself said as much after being traded to the Giants at the deadline last season. “I have to be honest. Every now and then, I do things that you don’t see very often.” Everything from his lumber-chopping practice swings, to his fidgety wiggling in the batter's box, to his crazy eyes and spirit-inspiring speeches; Hunter Pence is one of a kind. Like Pence, the Giants themselves are one of a kind. Their maddening style of play and uniqueness is a reflection of the city they play in-- a place I'd certainly call maddening and unique in its own right. Nothing against Houston and Philadelphia, but Hunter Pence belongs here. He belongs here because of his crazy ways and his crazy eyes. The fact that he rides a go-ped to the ballpark just seals the deal. Oh yeah, and he's a good baseball player. "He's all out, and he's contagious." ...

Pence Takes Blame for Down 2012

When he arrived from Houston, the swing was goofy, but the work ethic was solid. No one ever accused Hunter Pence of not trying. Turns out, he was trying too hard, which is what we all saw with our own two eyes anyway. Last season, while Pence was still with the Phillies, he admitted to doing too much in the absence of the meat of the order, Chase Utley and Ryan Howard. When he arrived...

SF Giants Rumors: Cliff Lee Could Be On The Giants Radar

Last night didn’t go as planned for the San Francisco Giants. Cliff Lee and the Phillies pumped the brakes on the Giants six game winning streak. Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com says it’s worth the Giants’ time to pick up the phone and inquire about a possible trade for Lee. It’s not likely that the Phillies will be able to keep pace with the Braves and Nationals, so they...

San Francisco Giants fan’s ridiculously stupid half fake beard

Just because Brian Wilson no longer makes his living at AT&T Park doesn’t mean that the freaks have stopped coming out at night.  ”Hey Joe, want to go to the Giants game?  I’ll pick you up at six.”  ”Make it 6:30, I need to draw on my fake beard.” Joe Giantsfan somehow found his way on an MLB Network camera.  Joe Giantsfan will also spend the latter part of Thursday...

Flatlulent Giants pitcher sent down to the minors

Best known in his brief tenure with the Giants for bombing the bullpen with deadly gas, Jean Machi has been optioned by the club to Triple-A Fresno. Creating awkward situations with Jose Mijares might have been the only thing Machi did wrong with the Giants, however. The right-hander surrendered just two runs in nine relief appearances. The Giants, though, did not have any room after...

San Francisco Giants: Is It Too Early To Re-Sign Hunter Pence?

Hunter Pence is top-three is nearly every significant offensive statistical category for the San Francisco Giants this season, and it is not farfetched to start thinking about re-signing the 30-year-old. Pence was a large part of the Giants’ 2012 World Series title, even though he hit just .210 with four RBI in last year’s postseason. His pregame speeches were legendary in themselves...

Giants' Santiago Casilla Leaves Wednesday's Game

Santiago Casilla left Wednesday’s game with a right knee injury while covering first base on a grounder. After the Ben Revere groundout, the relief pitcher exited the game. He got two outs, including a strikeout, before he was injured and ultimately replaced...

Could The San Francisco Giants Pitchers Have A Crack In The Armor?

As baseball has been the one constant through all the years, as quoted by James Earl Jones in the movie “Field of Dreams,” the one constant through all the years for the San Francisco Giants has been their starting pitching.  From their first World Series victory in 2010 to their latest in 2012, the position players have vastly changed with the exception of one, Buster Posey...

Andres Torres lined a game-ending single to right field with two outs in the 10th inning, lifting the San Francisco Giants to a 4-3 victory against the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday to avoid a sweep. Javier Lopez (1-0) pitched the 10th for the win after Sergio Romo blew his second save in 14 opportunities, failing to finish off Barry Zito's gem. Buster Posey hit a pinch...

Vogelsong Struggles Continue in Giants 6-3 Loss to Braves

Ryan Vogelsong lasted less than five innings and gave up six runs in the San Francisco Giants’ 6-3 loss to the Atlanta Braves on Thursday night. The fifth inning once again proved troublesome for Vogelsong as the disastrous four-run inning led to Vogelsong exiting, being replaced by Jose Mijares. Thursday marked the second straight start where Vogelsong didn’t make it out of...
