Found August 10, 2012 on Philliedelphia:
Newest San Francisco Giants outfielder Hunter Pence is a Twitter mainstay.   But his Twitter handle has been anything but.  We first knew Pence as @hunterpence9 during his days with Houston.  Then, in Philadelphia, he was @hunterpence3.  But alas, he got a new team and a new number, 8. From this day forward, he shall be known simply as @HunterPence. Twitter tends not to reassign incative accounts, but people who are famous tend to get special rules.  The Twitter inactive account policy states, We are currently working to release all inactive usernames in bulk, but we do not have a set time frame for when this will take place. If a username you would like is being used by an account that seems inactive, you should consider selecting an available variation for your use on Twitter. In general, adding numbers, underscores, or abbreviations can help you come up with a great available username. @HunterPence was previously owned by someone who identified himself as "Hunter A...

What Will Melky Cabrera Make On The Market?

Melky Cabrera is having a career-year. After posting 4.2 WAR last year, Cabrera has once again been effective. The 27-year-old outfielder has already passed that total this season, accumulating 4.8 WAR so far. Cabrera’s performance comes at a great time for him. At the end of the season, he can become a free-agent. And it looks like he’ll have a chance to hit the market, since...

DeLorean hovercraft visits McCovey Cove during Giants game (Video)

To paraphrase Marty McFly from Back to the Future: "You made a hovercraft out of a DeLorean?" Well, a man named Matthew Riese did, with some funding from Kickstarter, and it was on display in McCovey cove during Friday night's San Francisco Giants baseball game at AT&T Park against the Colorado Rockies Seeing is believing, and based on this footage, the...

And Now The Rest of the Giants' 2012 Trade Deadline Story

The San Francisco Giants walked away from the 2012 non-waiver deadline in pretty good shape. With the extra-base power of Hunter Pence in the everyday line-up, and the solid-hitting Marco Scutaro in the infield mix, the Giants have assembled the pieces needed to challenge the Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks for the National League West title. The starting pitching needed to dominate...

Giants, Cabrera cut off contract talks

The Giants whipped the St. Louis Cardinals 15-0 Wednesday, but the day didn't feature only good news for San Francisco fans. It was learned that the team and Melky Cabrera stopped talking about a contract extension until after the season, opening the door for the left fielder to file for free agency and sign elsewhere. It would be a tough loss for the Giants, who struck gold...

Postgame Wrap: Bad Hitting Beats Bad Pitching

After about the 6th inning or so, I spent a while trying to figure out what the theme of tonight’s postgamer would be. First I wanted to talk about how good Ryan Vogelsong is, and say again that he’ll be getting Cy Young votes. Second I wanted to fawn over Buster Posey’s .399 OBP, and say again that he’ll be getting MVP votes. Third, I wanted to point out the offensive...

Rockies-Giants Preview

Despite coming up short in the finale, the San Francisco Giants proved plenty potent on their just-completed road trip. That was hardly the case during their last homestand. The Giants - losers of seven of eight in San Francisco - return home Friday night to open a three-game set against the Colorado Rockies, who try to avoid a fourth consecutive defeat in this series after getting...
