According to a report from The Denver Post, Colorado Rockies first baseman Todd Helton pleaded guilty to DUI charges stemming from a February incident where he was pulled over by police while allegedly driving to a store to buy lottery tickets while intoxicated. Helton reportedly told the police that he had drank “two igloo cups of red wine,” and along with statement came the horrible mug shot taken upon his arrest, adding further embarrassment to an already humiliating ordeal. Helton, as he did immediately after the arrest, once again expressed regret over the incident during his court appearance. “I am very regretful,” he said. “I have taken measures to ensure it never happens again.” A judge sentenced Helton to one year of probation, a $400 fine and 24 hours of community service. Hopefully, Todd Helton can put this incident behind him and move on with his life. And if so, the embarrassing mug shot that went viral back in February can recede from our memories and we’ll never be forced to speak of it again. I mean, look at that photo. It’s beyond terrible.
