TOLEDO- The Toledo Mudhens shutout the Columbus Clippers on Independence Day Thursday afternoon. Columbus’ five pitchers weren’t enough to hold the Mudhens, while the Clippers offense could not make up the deficit the Clippers’ pitching caused, losing 7-0. Center fielder Ezequiel Carrera claimed two of the hits in the first three innings, while Jeremy Hermida and Nate Spears earned the other two hits in the seventh inning. T.J. House started strongly on the mound for the Clippers with two scoreless innings. House began to spiral down in the third inning. He allowed a single followed by a double with one out starting the inning. Argenis Diaz then hit a sacrifice ground ball to third base, scoring Toledo’s first run. House then imploded in the fourth inning, allowing three runs. The inning began with a double, followed by a walk. A single then scored the Mudhens second run of the game. Lat...
