Skating on ice is tough enough, but doing it when you are missing a blade on one foot during an NHL playoff game — as we found out yesterday — is next to impossible.
That's what happened to Washington Capitals rookie Tom Wilson when he was crashed into the boards and "lost his steel" during Game 6 against the New York Rangers Sunday.

Late in the first period of only his second career playoff game, Washington Capitals rookie Tom Wilson got crushed and lost his skate blade. Wilson tried to get up and balance on one skate, while pushing with his bladeless skate but it was to no avail. Wilson ended up crawling back to the Capitals bench to get a line change and to get a new set of steel placed in his skate.
The Capitals and Rangers are all tied up at three games, and the series has had plenty of great NHL highlights. The series produced a phenomenal low-light on Sunday as the Caps’ Tom Wilson lost a skate blade and his return to the bench made for a good viral video. Check out the young man do all he could to get back to his team without the use of one skate. Not as easy as one...
