World, meet Tony. Tony Cingrani, a 23-year old rookie phenom for the Cincinnati Reds, was given the ball today in an effort to squelch the Washington Nationals and their quest for a four game sweep. Mr. C obliged with a gem. Cingrani left after the sixth giving up only two hits while recording 11 wiffle-ball strikeouts (including four K’s in the 4th). Three innings later, the Reds made it official with a 5-2 victory over the Neon Hulk and the rest of the Nats. Cingrani now sports a video game-like 28:4 strikeout-to-walk ratio and will certainly crack the fantasy baseball Most Added list in the days to come. So, if you want to impress your uncle or co-worker with a pick-up, here’s your opportunity. One last thing, if you are a Reds fan, do your best to keep him a secret from Dusty Baker.

Tony Cingrani started the fourth inning with a strikeout, but the batter reached on a wild pitch. The next hitter doubled, and after striking out Bryce Harper, another batter walked to load the bases.

With the bases loaded, Cingrani threw only one ball while striking out Ian Desmond and threw only one more ball while striking out...
A frustrating 5-2 loss for the Nats on Sunday against the Reds, and Adam LaRoche continues to simply not hit. But Henry Rodriguez was like a little ray of comedic sunshine on an otherwise gray and gloomy day in Washington when he nearly hit Corky Miller with a pitch in the 8th, then followed that up with a pitch that ricocheted off the backstop and nearly hit him in the head. Enjoy...

The Cincinnati Reds have officially sent outfielder Chris Heisey to the DL, a move that had been expected since he strained his hamstring on Saturday night against the Washington Nationals.
The Reds tweeted the move on Monday afternoon, also announcing the promotion of Donald Lutz:
Reds disable OF Chris Heisey (strained right hamstring). Promote from Pensacola OF Donald...
The Reds' Joey Votto called me over to his locker on Friday. He had something he wanted to say.
"Bryce Harper is pretty good," Votto said, smiling.
Initially, as I reported on the MLB on Fox pre-game show Saturday , I thought Votto was kidding. But he wasn't, not at all.
The quote you're about to read about Harper is not from some media myth-maker, but one...

Nationals closer Henry Rodriguez has struggled with his wild pitches all season, and Sunday night against the Reds, it came back to get him — literally.
After throwing a crazy pitch over the safety net into the stands earlier in the month, Rodriguez followed it up with an even crazier one. On an outside pitch to Reds catcher Corky Miller, Rodriguez missed his own catcher, Kurt...

Washington Nationals pitcher Henry Rodriguez came dangerously close to having to charge the mound on himself on Sunday during a game against the Cincinnati Reds. In the top of the 8th inning, the right-hander threw a wild pitch. Oftentimes wild pitches lead to bench-clearing brawls. If Rodriguez’s wild pitch came any closer to his own head...

The Nationals had their first all around ugly game of the series against the Reds on Sunday afternoon. They still walked away from the game with a series win and a 4-3 season series win against the Reds. Ross Detwiler’s worst performance of the season was further exacerbated by poor defense and a lethargic offense in the 5-2 loss.
The Reds got to Detwiler early in the first...

Wainwright will try to help the St. Louis Cardinals avoid a season-high third consecutive loss on Monday night when these NL Central foes renew their rivalry.
Trying to build off a season-opening 4-2 homestand, the Reds...

The Nats offense reignited on Saturday following a game where Jordan Zimmermann pitched so well that the offense never even had to light up to earn the win. The Nats ran Reds starter Mike Leake from the game early en route to a 6-3 victory, a series win, and an opportunity for a four-game sweep in Sunday’s day game.
