Former St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa and current Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim first baseman Albert Pujols have a very special relationship. La Russa was the slugger's manager for each of his first eleven season in the Big Leagues. The duo led the Cardinals to a pair of World Series Championships. The success of Pujols had under La Russa's leadership during those eleven years was the main contributor to Pujols receiving a monster ten year, $254 million contract from the Angels at the age of 32. While La Russa clearly adores Pujols, he also believes that a long contract like the one the first baseman received is not good for baseball.
