Last night, Torii Hunter took advantage of a weak link. Noticing a passed ball on the third strike of Prince Fielder’s at-bat – with two outs, mind you – Torii took off from second base to third. And he didn’t stop. He kept running until he scored and the Minnesota Twins – the team Torii had played for during the majority of his career – could not have been more bombarded by the hustle. Take a look:
We’re not surprised, though. This is the second time this year that Torii has made a team look foolish on the basepaths. Earlier this year, Torii recorded what might have been the easiest stolen base ever against the Houston Astros. These are plays that spell out why the Twins and Astros – combined – are 51 games out of first place and have a .382 winning percentage. Not surprisingly, Detroit won 7-1.
