It was a  week of ups and downs for the Toronto Blue Jays.  After hammering San Francisco twice,  Toronto found themselves on the losing end against the New York Yankees this past weekend. In the middle of the week, the Jays defeated the Giants 10-6  and 11-3. In the first game against the Giants, Toronto’s Melky Cabrera went four for five at the plate and racked  up two RBIs. R,A, Dickey recorded his third win of the season.  In six innings pitched, Dickey gave up six hits, two earned runs, two walks and struck out an astonishing 10 batters. In game two, Diogenes Ortiz was on the mound for the Jays.  Ortiz gave up six hits, an earn run, a walk and struck out a batter. The Blue Jay’ s next series was a different story.  Toronto faced the Yankees in a three game stint in New York. Toronto was shut out 5-0 i the first game.  Mark Buehrle gave up six hits, five earned runs, three walks and struck out four batters in six innings pitched. R.A. Dickey It didn’t get any better for the Jays in the second game of the series.  Toronto got  hammered by the Yankees 7-2. Toronto’s Brandon Morrow did not have a good day on the mound.  Morrow gave up seven hits, five earned runs, no walks and struck out a batter in five innings pitched. What happened i the third game?  Well, nothing.  It was postponed because of bad weather. It wouldn’t get easier for Toronto,  The next opponent was the Tampa  Bay Rays, Surprisingly to me, the Jays dominated the first game.  Edwin Encarnacion shined as he went two for four at the plate and racked up three RBIs in a 7-5 Blue Jay win. “It’s a nice victory,” said Toronto’s manager. John Gibbons after the game. Dickey recorded his second victory in a row.  In eight innings pitched, Dickey gave up four hits, two earned runs, four walks ad struck out five batters. I have to admit, I was on the edge of my seat after Jay’s closing pitcher, Casey Janssen gave up a two run homer in the ninth inning with two out.  Janssen then gave up a base hit and a walk after the home run.  I thought the Rays were either going to tie it up or even go ahead  at that point. Thankfully, Janssen struck out the next batter to win the game.
