I don’t know what it is folks, but in recent years, the Toronto Blue Jays seem to wait until September to start winning games.  Maybe because Toronto has nothing to lose since the Jays are out of the playoff race or maybe because the players (especially the rookies) are fighting for a spot on the team the following season.  Who knows. Well, just as the Jays did against the Kansas City Royals last weekend, Toronto marched into Arizona and won two out three games earlier this week. Toronto beat the Diamondbacks in the first game 4-1.  Edwin Encarnacion went one for four at the plate and racked up two RBIs.  Esmil Rogers had great night on the mound. Quite possibly his best start all year. Rogers gave up a hit, no earned runs, a walk, and struck out five batters in 6.1 innings pitched. The Jays hammered the Diamondbacks in the second game 10-4.  Moises Sierra was the offensive hero on this night as he went three for five at the plate and collected three RBIs. Todd Redmond had a good game on the mound.  Redmond gave up four hits, three earned runs, no walks, and struck out two batters in five innings pitched. The Jays came close to a sweep with no avail as Toronto lost the third and final game 4-3 in extra innings. Rajai Davis went one for four at the plate ad collected two RBIs. Jay’s starting pitcher Mark Buehrle had a good outing, despite the loss. Buehrle pitched 6.1 innings, giving up five hits, two earned runs, two walks, and struck out four batters. Jose Bautista out for the rest of the season. I have some bad news for Jose Bautista fans.   For the second year in a row, Bautista is going to be on the sidelines when the season comes to an end due as he continues to heal a bruised bone. The Jays kick off a series against Minnesota tonight.
