The Toronto Blue Jays traded fan-favourite Travis Snider to the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 30 halfway through their 4-1 loss in Seattle against the Mariners. The Blue Jays received right-handed relief pitcher Brad Lincoln in return for the left fielder. Shortly after Snider was sent packing, general manager Alex Anthopoulos then traded Eric Thames, a minor league outfielder, to Seattle for right-handed relief pitcher Steve Delabar.
The Blue Jays have been quite active in the trade market over the past few weeks as they were also involved in a 10-player deal on July 20 with the Houston Astros. The Jays received starting pitcher J.A. Happ and reliever Brandon Lyon in that swap. The Jays are desperately trying to shore up their bullpen as they make an unlikely run at one of the wildcard playoff spots. It’s become one of the team’s weak spots due to poor performances and injuries.
The 27-year-old Lincoln has a 4-2 record so far this season as well...

Blue Jays Trade Travis Snider to Pirates for Brad Lincoln
Red Sox foe Travis Snider is heading to the National League, where he won't be facing Boston quite as often. Snider is headed to Pittsburgh for a pennant race with the Pirates, who are looking to add some offense in support of superstar Andrew McCutcheon. In exchange, Toronto will receive 27-year-old pitcher Brad Lincoln. Lincoln is 4-2 with a 2.73 ERA out of the bullpen this...
Blue Jays, Pirates swap Snider for Lincoln
Last week, I mentioned that the Blue Jays had a very interesting trade chip in Travis Snider. Late tonight, Toronto cashed in that trade chip, sending Snider to Pittsburgh for Brad Lincoln.
On the surface, this doesn't seem like very good value for Snider. Lincoln's "just a reliever", but a good one, He's been a crucial part of Pittsburgh's bullpen...
The Waiver Wire: Travis Snider
The Major League Baseball Trade Deadline has come and gone with the usually flurry of deals as some teams prepared to make a final push to lock up a playoff spot while others made deals with an eye to the future. This is the same strategy you should be using over the final two months of your fantasy baseball season, too, especially if you are in a dynasty, keeper or a league which...

The trade deadline is upon us
After swapping Brad Lincoln for Travis Snider last night, I'm guessing that Neal Huntington has fired most of his major trade deadline bullets. There was some thought amongst Pirate fans (not any actual rumors connected to this, just speculation after the Snider trade) last night that Huntington may now flip Starling Marte in a bigger deal since he has another young outfielder...
Snider acquired from Jays for Lincoln
The Pirates acquired outfielder Travis Snider from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for right-hander Brad Lincoln early Tuesday morning in advance of the 4 p.m. non-waiver trade deadline.
And now all that's left is to play the games
I'm going to talk about the trade deadline at greater length later tonight (probably much greater length), but for now let's focus on the game the Pirates have coming up in three hours against the Cubs. That is, after all, what the trade deadline is about, right? The good news is that my guess that Travis Snider wouldn't make it to Chicago in time for tonight's game...
Blue Jays shore up bullpen with two trades
Neither trade was a blockbuster, but the Toronto Blue Jays made two deals Monday to bolster their pitching depth, an area that has been depleted by injuries this season. The cost was a couple of left-handed-hitting outfielders who have spent most of this season in the minors after receiving multiple chances to stick in the majors. Travis Snider, just back from Class AAA Las Vegas...
Pirates Focused on Bullpen and Bench Help
Jon Heyman of CBS Sports says that the Pittsburgh Pirates will be focusing on their bullpen and bench after they filled their outfield spot with Travis Snider last night. He points out that they didn’t deal Gerrit Cole or Jameson Taillon, which likely rules out options such as Shin-Soo Choo, and others who would require a top prospect today.
One trend to note: the Pirates have...
Five Best Trade Deadline Trades
1. Pirates acquire Travis Snider from Toronto for Brad Lincoln. This one doesn't get a whole ton of play in the media because it's not as sexy as a lot of the other trades that went down and if it does it's always mentioned as a "trade of two failed prospects, both of whom were drafted in the first round of the 2006 draft. That may be true, but that doesn&...

Grading the Pirates’ trade deadline
This year has been the craziest Pirates season we’ve seen since all the losing started 20 years ago. Before the year started, we were just hoping they wouldn’t look as bad as they did when 2011 ended…and maybe finish within 5 games of .500 (we had them pegged for 77-85 in our season preview). Instead, the Buccos are right smack in the middle of a pennant race, and yesterday...
Daniel McCutchen to Join Pirates Bullpen
According to a source, right-handed reliever Daniel McCutchen is expected to join Pittsburgh to replace Brad Lincoln’s spot in the bullpen.
McCutchen posted a 3.40 ERA over 45.0 innings this season at Triple-A.
Lincoln was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays last night in a deal that sent outfielder Travis Snider to the Pirates.
