As you have probably already heard by now Jay’s shortstop, Yunel Escobar  was suspended three games for a homophobic slur written in Spanish under his eyes.  What the heck was this guy thinking?   Is he out of his mind?

He’s supposed to play ball, not make any political statement.  I am so upset about this, I don’t even want him on the team anymore.  In fact, if I was the Toronto Blue Jays, I would get rid of him right away.  He representing a city that not only is mult-cultural, but has a well known gay community who has a Gay Pride Parade every year.   I actually liked this guy.  He was a good player.  Now I don’t.  Enough said.

The Jays lost 4-2 to the New York Yankees in the first game of a double-header.

The problem for the Jays in this game was not being able to manufacture the runs when they needed to.  Far to often this season, they left too many runners on base.  The simple fact is, if you can’t score, the less likely you will win.

As for Jay’s starting pitcher, Henderson Alvarez, he kept his team in the game.  The only blemish was the three runs he gave up in the bottom of the first inning.  After that, he pitched very well.

There was one positive note in the game for the Blue Jays.  Veteran infielder, Omar Vizqel is now 41st in the all-time career hit list, overtaking Babe Ruth with 2,874  as he got two base hits during the game.   Congratulations Omar!

In game two of the double-header, the Jays came up short as they lost 2-1.

The Jays looked to avoid the sweep tonight, but it didn’t happen.

They lost 10-7 and Yankee’s outfielder Ichiro Suzuki was one of the reasons they got swept.

In the series, Suzuki racked up 10 hits and four RBIs.   Pretty good for a player that is one of the oldest in the league.

It doesn’t get any easier for the Jays as they face Tampa Bay for three games starting tomorrow night.  You can bet that the Rays will be up for this series as they are fighting for a playoff spot.
