The moment a key player on a major league team tells reporters all's well in their clubhouse, you know trouble's brewing among the rank and file. Red Sox DH David Ortiz is telling reporters to "leave us alone and let us play play ball." ESPN baseball insider Buster Olney wrote recently that an "unhappiness" that exists among the Boston players and staff is multi-layered and deep." Olney writes the Red Sox clubhouse is "TOXIC." Red Sox players, and everyone else around Fenway Park deny the report's characterization of the clubhouse. That is, everyone except manager Bobby Valentine. It's funny that Ortiz is telling reporters to leave him and teammates alone yet it was Ortiz just before the All-Star break that complained to reporters that Red Sox management "disrespected" him when they wouldn't give him a multi-year contract for $14 million plus a season. They settled on a one year deal at $14.575 milli...

Ortiz awaits MRI results on right Achilles

Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz expects to have results of an MRI exam on his injured right Achilles before Tuesday's game against the White Sox. The other answers -- such as how long he might be out of action -- aren't quite as certain. He was hurt while rounding second base on 1B Adrian Gonzalez's decisive three-run homer in the eighth inning Monday against...

Carl Crawford Batting Second, Playing Left Field in Return to Red Sox Lineup

Carl Crawford is back in Boston, and he'll be thrown right into the fire in his first game with the Red Sox this season. Crawford will hit second and play left field in his 2012 debut with the Sox. Elbow, wrist and groin injuries have kept Crawford out of the big leagues this season, but after an arduous rehab process, he's ready to -- sort of. Crawford told reporters last...

With a four-day reprieve from the grind of a baseball season, the 23-year-old hopped on a plane last Monday and flew back to his hometown of Texarkana, Texas. Mike Aviles' Track Record Shows He's On the Verge of Starting Offensive Streak

Mike Aviles has developed a reputation as a streaky hitter. During the first month of the season, Aviles torched opposing pitchers, clubbing 5 home runs and 17 RBIs. After cooling off for a few weeks, the Red Sox shortstop resumed his hot hitting, launching homers in three straight games from May 18 to 20. Since then, Aviles had experienced a power outage until Sunday's 7-3 victory...

Red Sox Trade Rumors – 7/15/12

Red Sox GM Ben Cherington recently told reporters that the Red Sox will not be “sellers” as the team approaches the trade deadline. Cherington told a group of reports, including WEEI’s Rob Bradford: I don’t envision a scenario where we’re sellers, in the traditional sense of the word. We have some potential surplus in areas we’ve talked to teams about, and maybe there...

Red Sox Must Keep Day-to-Day Approach, Focus on Short Term May Be Pivotal in Second Half

The Red Sox have their work cut out for them, but they can't fall victim to keeping a close tabs on the standings. Simply put, the Sox are at the point of the season where they just have to worry about winning every inning, every game and every series. It's still way too unclear to know how many wins will get them into the playoffs, so Boston may be best-suited to sharpen...

Gonzalez HR spoils Youkilis' return

It was almost perfect for Boston Red Sox fans: They cheered Kevin Youkilis early in the game and enjoyed a late-inning rally by their team. A limping David Ortiz just put a bit of a damper on the nice night. Adrian Gonzalez spoiled Youkilis' return to Fenway Park, hitting a tiebreaking three-run homer in the eighth inning of a 5-1 win over the Chicago White Sox on Monday. The...

Carl Crawford Turns on 'Afterburner' While Matching Kevin Youkilis on Comeback Trail (Video)

Carl Crawford has only played in two games this year, but he's already making his impact felt. The lefty continued his hot start to 2012 on Tuesday night, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and looking pretty great jetting around the basepaths. The only thing that might have made things better would have been a Red Sox victory. Kevin Youkilis put an end to that thinking, however...

Red Sox 7, Rays 3

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Josh Beckett had a shaky start, got stronger as he went and won his rubber-game matchup with James Shields on Sunday. Red Sox Deadline Deals: Buyers? or Sellers?

Trade Deadline is fast approaching and the Sox appear to be Buyers at this year’s deadline. The Sox have been speculated to pitchers Matt Garza, and Ryan Dempster as well as Francisco Liriano  and maybe possible blockbusters such as Cole Hamels and Zach Greinke. I feel that it is no point to get another Starting Pitcher for this season, because I believe keeping prospects...
