Welcome to Trade Deadline 2009 for the San Diego Padres.  We'll keep the blog updated on any breaking news on a deal between the Red Sox and Padres for first baseman Adrian Gonzalez and possibly closer Heath Bell.   7/31/09 11:25am CDT  ESPN's Jayson Stark reports that the Red Sox are still talking to the Padres but nothing imminent as of yet. 7/31/09 8:12am CDT  Mark Feinsand and Bill Madden of the New York Daily News report that the Red Sox are in "full pursuit" of Adrian Gonzalez.  You have to believe that the Padres are asking for at least four to five prospects, not to mention Clay Buchholz, in return. 7/31/09 1:15am CDT As of late Thursday evening, the only thing we knew was that the Red Sox had called San Diego about the availability of All-Star first baseman Adrian Gonzalez and possibly closer Heath Bell.
