The Braves were aggressive in trying to trade pitcher Derek Lowe earlier this offseason, but don’t expect that when it comes to Jair Jurrjens, according to Dave O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
O’Brien reported that the Braves are not actively shopping Jurrjens, but are merely willing to listen to offers that could potentially make them better. O’Brien goes on to say that he has gotten the impression that unless the Braves lower their demands for Jurrjens, a trade won’t happen at all.
“I think that [Jurrjens trade possibility] was wrongly characterized from the very beginning,” said Braves GM Frank Wren. “What we said and what we stand by is that we’re looking to get better, and however we can get better we will. We’re open minded. We’ll listen if somebody calls.
“People like our players.Yes, teams have called but it’s a situation where we do like our team, we do like where we are, and you have to be careful that when you take away from...

Reaping What You Sow: Atlanta Braves Top 10 Prospects
As my favorite team, the Braves' list was fun and hard to do. On one hand, I know more about it than any other system, but on the other hand, that might make me more critical (or forgiving) of the system. With special thanks to Peter Hjort of Capitol Avenue Club, here's the Braves list.
Until a September swoon of epic proportions, the Braves were having quite the year, and...
Jason Heyward's Lost Season
The Atlanta Braves do not seem to be taking the kind of heat for their September collapse that the Boston Red Sox are taking, but it was just as bad. For fans, it was head scratching because they should have been a juggernaut right through the season. But a sub-par season from Dan Uggla didn't help after the high expectations there. What few realize is that Jason Heyward was...

Atlanta Braves’ Craig Kimbrel Takes Home Rookie of the Year Honors
By now you have probably heard that Atlanta Braves closer, Craig Kimbrel, was voted National League Rookie of the Year. Despite his implosion in game No. 162, it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that Craig Kimbrel is taking home the hardware. 127 strikeouts as a relief pitcher will certainly help your case. So will 46 saves – regardless of how stupid you think...
Nunez for Jurrjens Bad News for Yankees
Brian Cashman, the long-term GM for the New York Yankees, is a man who appears to know exactly what he wants. He has navigated some of the most treacherous corporate waters in all the world, namely the front office of the New York Yankees, with a deft touch, an internal confidence, and the instinct to know when to go on the offensive.
Since the beginning of the offseason, Cashman...
Why Trade Martin Prado?
It seems that the Atlanta Braves are intent on dealing Martin Prado this offseason. So far, Prado has been mentioned in trade talks with Kansas City (along with Jair Jurrjens for Lorenzo Cain and Wil Myers), with Colorado (for Seth Smith and a prospect) and with Detroit (for Delmon Young). Braves GM Frank Wren hasn’t found the right match for the 28-year-old yet — the Young...

Heyward motivated during offseason workouts
Jason Heyward never thought he would be waking up by 8 a.m. on a regular basis during the offseason. But at the same time, the Braves' young outfielder never anticipated experiencing the kind of season that has motivated him to work harder than he ever has in preparation for the next season.
Yankees Trade Rumors: the Braves want Eduardo Nunez
A source told John Harper of the NY Daily News that the Braves really like Yankees shortstop Eduardo Nunez and are even willing to deal Jair Jurrjens for a package including him.
“They’re willing to trade him,” the source said, “because they have plenty of young pitching without him, he’s starting to make big money — and he’s a (Scott) Boras guy who’ll be gone (as...
