One thing is for sure, the stock of Indians minor league catcher/utility-man Chris Gimenez has gone through the roof following yesterday’s game-winning three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth off of the Mariner’s Luis Pena.
Gimenez came to the plate with two outs following back-to-back walks to Carlos Santana and Wilson Valdez. He knew that the Mariners right-hander was struggling, “I just wanted to put the pressure on him. He’d just had a mound visit. I was surprised he threw me a slider. It stayed up,” said Gimenez.
