Miller Park Drunk:
New York Yankees
Los Angeles Angels
Going to try something new on Fridays that we'll call TRL Friday. Basically you (you) send me questions on Twitter and I (Vince) answer them here on the blog. (I should admit I stole this idea from my buddy Tom.) I'll keep doing it as long as I get questions. So hit me up @millerparkdrunk hashtag TRL AOL keyword baseball Ask Jeeves. Cool? Cool. Now let's go.
mgnirk asks if we think Doug Melvin's job is in jeopardy.
Short answer: No.
Long answer: Hell no.
While this season has been a huge disappointment and Mark Attanasio is probably not too happy about it he still has to realize what a great team Doug Melvin put together. He absolutely nailed the Aramis Ramirez and Norichika Aoki signings. The Lucroy extension is looking good. The rotation has been one of the better ones around and that's with Shaun Marcum missing a large amount of time with an injury. You can't fire your GM for the bullpen's performance especially when your top two (who never had ERAs cl...

MILWAUKEE Mark Rogers isn't ready to call it quits on this season just yet.
Despite a claim from Brewers principal owner Mark Attanasio during the broadcast of Friday's 9-3 win over the Pirates that the team will shut down the right-hander after his Friday win to limit his innings, the former first-round pick said that he feels as good as he ever has, even with 39 innings...
The Milwaukee Brewers have come to expect significant offensive production from Ryan Braun against the Chicago Cubs.
Norichika Aoki's production has been even more impressive.
Braun and Aoki look to continue pounding on Cubs pitching as the Brewers attempt to sweep this four-game set and extend their longest winning streak in the all-time series Thursday.
Braun is a career...
Milwaukee Brewers fans and residents of Wisconsin in general are no doubt familiar with the cartoon Beer Barrel Man, who became an official symbol of the modern Brewers when the franchise arrived in town in 1970. The new, major league Brewers of that time needed some branding, a logo, something to represent the team and connect with locals. That’s when Bud Selig reached back...
MILWAUKEE As Bob Uecker stared up at his bronzed likeness, now immortalized just outside the walls of Miller Park, master of ceremonies Bob Costas asked him what he'd like to do with his new statue first.
"Get my money back," Uecker deadpanned, in a way only the legendary Milwaukee Brewers broadcaster could.
For months, Uecker had joked that he couldn't put...
Corey Hart and Aramis Ramirez both went 3 for 4 with home runs, and Pittsburgh starter Jeff Karstens left for the second consecutive time with an injury as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Pirates 9-3 on Friday night.
Milwaukee starter Mark Rogers (3-1) gave up one run in 5 1-3 innings to win his third consecutive start in his last outing of the season. Ramirez had four RBIs and Nyjer...
Exploring the Arsenal will run prior to each game, providing you with a brief scouting report on the starting pitcher expected to oppose the Pirates. The chart below shows the horizontal and vertical movement of every pitch thrown by that particular pitcher in 2012. This chart is from the catcher’s point of view. The Pirates open a three-game series in Milwaukee on Friday night. Right-hander Jeff Karstens toes the rubber for the Bucs. The Brewers will toss righty Mark Rogers.
A statue of popular Brewers broadcaster Bob Uecker was dedicated outside Miller Park on Friday, and those in attendance recalled it was all made possible because of some spilled mashed potatoes and gravy.
Uecker, affectionately dubbed ''Mr. Baseball'' by Johnny Carson in the 1970s, joined Hall of Famers Hank Aaron, Robin Yount and Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig...
I wrote this a few days ago instead of a Brewers series preview but didn't have as much to say as I thought (laughing). Congrats to Rodrigo for having a great season.
I had a hard enough time finding enough to write about in the last Brewers-Cubs series preview last week, so I figure the most interesting thing to look at would be Ramirez's first season with the Brewers. As...
The Pittsburgh Pirates are feeling playoff pressure. The Milwaukee Brewers, conversely, are playing free and loose these days, unburdened by any remaining expectations. Yet, undeniably, the Brewers showed some encouraging signs during Saturday's air-tight, 3-2 victory. Milwaukee's Corey Hart provided the obvious jolt of adrenaline, hammering a solo, walk-off homer off Pittsburgh...
Pirates (70-60) at Brewers (62-68)

Here is the MLB.com Gameday

The Pirates are in Milwaukee for a weekend series against the Brewers. Since the Cardinals lost again yesterday, the Bucs enter the action just a half-game out of a playoff spot. St. Louis is at Washington this weekend and just lost SS Rafael Furcal for the season....
Only thirty games left. Whatever happens, this was the best season the Pirates have had in my adult life, and it was fun. That’s not to say it was a success, because without a World Series it isn’t, but it was still a whole lot more enjoyable than years past. I don’t know why the [...]
The Pirates tied the game in the 8th inning and headed to the 9th tied at 2. John Axford got Pedro Alvarez and Josh Harrison to ground out to start, but Rod Barajas decided it wouldn’t end there. He singled to center field, and Axford’s lack of command walked pinch hitters Michael McKenry and Gaby [...]
If you missed Mellie’s recap of the season series clinching win against the Cardinals you suck. First Pitch: 8:10 PM EST Where To Watch: Root Sports, MLB.TV, FSWI Mark Rogers, RHP (26) This freaking guy again? He freaking faced the Pirates last time out. He used them to get his ERA under 5.00. How [...]
