Alex Gordon continued his spring surge with a two-run homer Tuesday that backed a series of strong pitching performances and carried the Royals to a 4-3 victory over an Oakland split squad at Surprise Stadium. Gordon's homer, which snapped a 2-2 tie, was a no-doubt drive to right field against Fernando Cabrera in the seventh inning. Gordon also had a single in three at-bats while raising his on-base percentage to .558.
