Matt Capps converted his seventh save in as many opportunities in Minnesota's 4-3 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday, but he's not beating his chest. At one point during a 99-loss 2011, he was booed off Target Field in four consecutive games, so he knows things can change.

"Go look at my numbers at this point last year; they were pretty good," Capps said. "The season is 162 games. That's what it's all about."

Still, he added, "With the way things went last year I'd certainly much rather start this way than another way."

Capps has been one of the few bright spots this season for the Twins, who improved to 10-24 after splitting a four-game series with the Blue Jays at Target Field. He has a loss under his belt after giving up Cody Ross' game-winning homer in a 6-5 loss to Boston on April 23, but he's perfect in save opportunities and lowered his ERA to 3.46 after his fifth straight scoreless appearance on Sunday.

That's better than his 1-2 record, five saves and 3.93 ERA at this point in 2011.

"I said it last year and still feel the same way: I don't blame them for booing me," he said Sunday. "They paid damn good money to get in and see us win, and they expect to see us win."

Asked if he feels Twins fans have forgiven him for 2011, he said, "It was a pretty good ovation (Sunday). There were more cheers than anything today, and we hear that -- we feed off that."

"It's disheartening when you're in your home stadium and you get booed," he added. "When you're on the road, you feed off it, because you know you're getting under their skin. But at home, it's kind of like being reprimanded by your parents. It's like, 'I know I screwed up, you don't have to tell me.'"
