The Minnesota Twins waited a while to make a splash but today they finally did,it wasn’t a big one, acquiring left handed pitcher Cole Nelson and a player to be named later in exchange for outfielder Delmon Young. Young was batting .286, with 2 home runs, and 12 RBI this season for the Twins, on the other side of the trade lefty Cole Nelson has gone 5-11 with a 4.87 ERA for the Lakeland Tigers this year. Nelson’s first few season coming out of the bullpen for Lakeland went smoothly as the highest ERA he saw during those three years was 0.75 while pitching in 18 games and acquiring 2 saves.
News of the trade was first reported by the Detroit Free Press earlier this morning around 11:00 A.M EST. The Tigers also added that they will add Young to the 25 man roster prior to tonight’s game against their division rival Twins.
