MINNEAPOLIS The Minnesota Twins announced a handful of roster moves Wednesday, outrighting six players off the 40-man roster. Pitchers Jeff Manship, Luis Perdomo, Esmerling Vasquez, Kyle Waldrop and P.J. Walters and outfielder Matt Carson were all outrighted from the Twins' major league roster. The Twins also announced that they will not pick up the 6 million option on reliever Matt Capps for the 2013 season, instead paying the 29-year-old right-hander a 250,000 buyout. Capps began the 2012 season as the Twins closer but dealt with a rotator cuff injury that limited him to just 30 games. Capps saved 45 games for the Twins after coming to Minnesota in a 2010 midseason trade. Additionally, right-hander Carlos Gutierrez was claimed off outright waivers by the Chicago Cubs and was added to their 40-man roster. Gutierrez, 26, was the Twins first-round pick (27th overall) in the 2008 draft. He pitched at Triple-A Rochester in each of the last three seasons but was appeared in just 10 games this season due to a shoulder injury. Right-handers Scott Baker, Cole De Vries and Carl Pavano were reinstated off the disabled list Wednesday. With all of Wednesdays moves, the Twins have 35 players on the 40-man roster.
