While the Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals donned throwback uniforms for Saturday's game at Kauffman Stadium, one Twins fan had his own jersey creation. Late in the game, a shirtless fan made it on to FOX Sports North's broadcast with his handcrafted Joe Mauer jersey: "MAUER" and "7" shaved into the hair on his back. The letters to "Mauer" were spelled with hair, while the No. 7 was shaved into the rest of the fan's back hair. That's one way to save money on a jersey of the popular Mauer, who earned his fifth All-Star nod this season and is currently second in the American League batting race. On the diamond, the Twins wore 1909 navy blue throwbacks of the St. Paul Gophers, a team that played in Minnesota in the early 1900s. Minnesota also wore white hats that read "StPG" and had a navy brim shorter than the typical baseball hat. The Royals sported white Kansas City Monarchs throwbacks from 1920. Both jerseys were worn as part of a Salute to the Negro Leagues. Follow Tyler Mason on Twitter.
