Following a rare setback during their outstanding run, the Los Angeles Angels appear to be in a good position to bounce back with Jered Weaver facing a team he's dominated recently. Those Minnesota Twins are simply trying to avoid the longest home losing streak in franchise history. Weaver looks to win his fifth straight decision against the struggling Twins on Monday night when visiting Los Angeles goes for its 13th win in 17 games. Although the Angels (67-75) are way out of contention as they wrap up a very disappointing season, solid pitching and timely hitting has keyed this late hot stretch. "They're playing hard," manager Mike Scioscia told the league's official website. "It's been fun to watch these guys rebound from the depths of what's been a very frustrating season." They've batted .333 with runners in scoring position during the 12-4 stretch despite going 2 for 10 in a 4-3 loss to Texas on Sunday. Kole Calhoun, who went 2 for 4 ...

WATCH: Mike Trout makes barehanded catch while on deck

Los Angeles Angels center fielder Mike Trout made a great catch during Sunday's game in Anaheim, but it didn't happen in the outfield. Your browser does not support iframes. Trout was on deck warming up for his at-bat in the bottom of the fourth when teammate Erick Aybar hit a one-hopper foul right at him. Trout snagged it with his bare left hand while holding his bat...

Come Throw Strikes with C.J. Wilson

By David Saltzer, AngelsWin.com Senior Writer One of the things that made me an Angels fan as a kid was all the community involvement from the players and the team. Josmil Pinto is "Catching" MLB by Storm

Do you know the name Josmil Pinto?  No...well, neither did I until about two weeks ago.  Since joining the Twins the 24 year old catcher has done nothing but hit.  In 7 games he's batting .565/1.513, with 6 R, 5 DBL, 1 HR, and 4 RBI.  That equates to a 0.6 WAR, which is amazing for such a short period of time.  Aside from a poor showing in 2010 and 2011, Pinto has hit well...

Twins impressed by rookie catcher Josmil Pinto so far

MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Twins catcher Josmil Pinto had three doubles in Minnesota's win Monday, but his most impressive swing of the night didn't account for one of his three hits. In the sixth inning, Pinto pulled a ball well foul down the left field line. The deep drive hit the glass of Target Field's executive suites, a territory rarely -- if ever -- reached by batters...

Escobar, fellow Twins September call-ups out to prove themselves

MINNEAPOLIS -- Eduardo Escobar was understandably disappointed when the Minnesota Twins optioned him to Triple-A Rochester in mid-July. But the reality was that there just weren't enough at-bats for Escobar in the majors. So instead of sulk, Escobar performed. In 43 regular-season games, the utility infielder helped spark Rochester to a playoff berth by batting .307 with four...

Andrew Albers shines in first time facing Toronto

MINNEAPOLIS -- Toronto is nearly 2,000 miles away from North Battleford, Saskatchewan, where Twins pitcher Andrew Albers grew up. But there was still something special for the left-hander when he got to face the Blue Jays -- Canada's only major league team -- on Sunday at Target Field. Just before Albers took the mound for his seventh career big league start, he got to hear the...

Twins Saturday: Jays and confused

MINNEAPOLIS -- Bitter, raw disappointment seeped into and throughout Target Field's home clubhouse weeks ago. But anger is toughest to stomach when it's coupled with confusion, and that's been the emotion most apparent as the Twins' season gone wrong dwindles toward an offseason fraught with question marks. Saturday night, Adam Lind and the Toronto Blue Jays added...

Angels denied sweep as Rangers rally for 4-3 win

The Angels' bullpen depth was no match for the six pitchers Texas manager Ron Washington summoned to the mound after Nick Tepesch went 3 1-3 innings on a limited pitch count in his first start off the disabled list. The Rangers scored the tying and go-ahead runs in the seventh against Buddy Boshers and Michael Kohn, who were trying to protect a one-run lead for Jason Vargas...
