Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer is out day-to-day with a sore hamstring and first baseman Justin Morneau returned after missing Friday's game with a sore left forearm, MLB.com reported Saturday. Mauer sustained the injury while running the bases in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. He stayed in the game, but it got worse as the game went along, Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. Mauer tested the hamstring before Saturday's game but decided to sit out. Gardenhire said Mauer can pinch-hit, but would need a pinch-runner. Ryan Doumit started at catcher in place of Mauer Saturday while Josh Willingham (sore knee) is the designated hitter. Morneau injured his forearm while swinging the bat Thursday.
