PLAYERS: Mike Pelfrey
TEAMS: Minnesota Twins
Despite the injuries, Mike Pelfrey is closing in on a significant bonus this season.  If he can manage to pitch 10 2/3 more innings, he will earn himself a $100,000 bonus this season.  It sounds like Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire won't do anything one way or the other to prevent or help the bonus. According to @baseballpro, Mike Pelfrey needs 10.2 innings to reach a $100K bonus. Gardy said he never lets bonuses affect his decisions. — Phil Miller (@MillerStrib) September 11, 2013 Pelfrey has pitched 139 1/3 innings this season.  He is 5-11 with a 4.97 ERA.  For his part, a $100,000 bonus probably sounds pretty good.  For the Twins, he hasn't helped them all that much.  At least he has been relatively healthy. Aside from a back strain this season, Pelfrey hasn't missed much time.  Last year, though, Pelfrey only pitched in 19 2/3 innings.  He underwent elbow surgery during the 2012 season and lost most of the year. Twins slugger Josh Willingham returns to form in win over Oakland

MINNEAPOLIS -- Maybe Josh Willingham should bat sixth more often. Hitting in the No. 6 spot in the order for the first time in nearly four years, Willingham homered twice -- including the go-ahead blast in the eighth inning -- to lift Minnesota to a 4-3 victory over the visiting Oakland Athletics. And he did so lower in the order than he's ever batted in a Twins uniform. Manager...

Diamond falls in return to Twins, loses to A's 8-2

Scott Diamond finished last season as the only pitcher assured of a spot in Minnesota's rotation. One year later, the left-hander isn't sure of much, starting with getting the ball to go where he wants it to. A.J. Oakland A's overpower Minnesota Twins 18-3

It was one of those nights where baseball became pinball and the A's were in danger of breaking the scoreboard counter. Actually keeping his taxes straight might have...
