Fox Sports North:
Although it was unforeseen, the Minnesota Twins will get their second day off of the week Friday.
As Tropical Storm Andrea moves up the East Coast, Twins and Washington Nationals officials decided to postpone the teams' scheduled 6:05 p.m meeting until Sunday, creating a day-night doubleheader at Nationals Park. The teams will square off at 12:35 p.m. as originally slated, then turn around at 6:05 p.m. to complete their three-game series.
The storm zipped through the Carolinas on Friday morning and is expected to hit the Washington, D.C., area somewhere around game time, according to the National Weather Service.
At 3:05 p.m. Saturday, Minnesota will face a team coming off a second straight day of rest. The Nationals' Thursday game against the New York Mets also was also rained out.

The Minnesota Twins' hometown hero provided a milestone moment, but it was up to their hottest hitter of late to cap a special day in the nation's capital for captain Joe Mauer.
Right fielder Ryan Doumit and the Twins bounced back from a couple wasted plate opportunities to single home the winning run in the 11th inning, ensuring Mauer's 100th career home run came in...
Minnesota Twins have drafted right-handed pitcher Kohl Stewart with the 4th pick in the draft, and he is one of the more intriguing players in the draft. He is dual sport star and is committed to play both football and baseball at Texas A&M.
A premium football recruit as a quarterback, Stewart passed for 8,803 yards and 87 touchdowns in three high school seasons before committing...
MINNEAPOLIS The Minnesota Twins have a pretty good track record of drafting high school quarterbacks.
In 2001, they took the hometown kid, Cretin-Derham Hall quarterback and catcher Joe Mauer, with the No. 1 overall pick. Mauer chose baseball over football despite having an offer to play quarterback at Florida State. That decision has turned out OK for both Mauer and the Twins,...
The Minnesota Twins didn't wind up having enough room for Tyler Robertson this spring.
The team they face on the road this weekend does, though.
Four days after the Twins designated Robertson for assignment, the Washington Nationals claimed him off waivers. The left-handed pitcher was bumped to clear space for outfielder Clete Thomas, whom Minnesota called up from Triple-a Rochester...
MINNEAPOLIS The Minnesota Twins took another pitcher with their second-round pick, drafting LSU right-hander Ryan Eades with the 43rd overall pick.
Eades was 8-1 with a 2.81 ERA in 16 starts for LSU this season. He struck out 77 batters and walked 30 in 96 innings. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Eades was originally drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 19th round in 2010 before going...
Free agent outfielder Grady Sizemore recently resumed baseball-related activities, meaning he’s nearing the point where
he’ll consider signing his next contract. When this happens – likely closer to
the All-Star break – the Minnesota Twins are one of the teams that will have
interest in Sizemore, according to Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN.
Wolfson points out that...
MINNEAPOLIS For the second year in a row, the Minnesota Twins drafted a high school player with a top-four pick in Major League Baseball's draft. On Thursday, it was pitcher Kohl Stewart of Texas.
Stewart, who measures at 6-foot-3, 185 pounds, is a hard-throwing right-hander who pitched for St. Pius X (Texas) High School. He was widely regarded as the top prep talent in the...
Joe Mauer has done things in his nine-year career that no other MLB catcher has ever done and added this nifty foul ball snag in Saturday’s game to his legacy:

In honor of the return of Josh Willingham to Washington for the first time since the December 2010 trade with the A's for Henry Rodriguez and Corey Brown, we present an old 2010 screencap of Josh Willingham in the ceremonial Silver Elvis wig. Willingham wore it a lot that year. Things have certainly changed around here since 2010, when a 93-loss season was considered pretty good...
The Twins selected right handed pitcher Kohl Stewart in tonight’s draft. I know literally nothing about about him (or for that matter, any of the other prospects), so I did a Google search to find out a little about him. Let’s make some rush’s to judgment!
Um… Hold up. This was the Twins’ draft pick right, and not the Vikings? /double checks. Hmmm. Does Kohl know this?...
Ryan Doumit singled in the go-ahead run, Joe Mauer homered, doubled and singled, and the Minnesota Twins defeated the Washington Nationals 4-3 in 11 innings Saturday.
Josh Roenicke (2-1) pitched a scoreless 10th inning for the win and Glen Perkins retired Washington in the 11th for his 13th save.
The Twins, who were playing their first game in Washington since 1971, have won eight...
