Several hours after making a trade to bolster their rotation, the Minnesota Twins made a move Thursday to maintain stability in their bullpen by signing right-hander Jared Burton to a two-year contract extension through the 2014 season. Burton, who was 3-2 with five saves and a 2.18 ERA in 64 appearances last season, signed with the Twins in November 2011. Now he'll make 2.05 million in 2013 and 3.25 million in 2014. The deal also includes a 3.6 million club option for the 2015 season with a 200,000 buyout. "Jared has been an ideal fit for our ballclub since the day he signed with us," Twins general manager Terry Ryan said in a statement. "He proved to be a reliable reliever for us and has helped stabilize the back end of our bullpen." In six major-league seasons, Burton, 31, is 13-5 with five saves and a 3.08 ERA. He played his first five seasons with the Reds. Earlier in the day, the Twins traded center fielder Ben Revere to the Philadelphia Phillies for starting pitcher Vance Worley and pitching prospect Trevor May.
