Several hours after making a trade to bolster their rotation, the Minnesota Twins made a move Thursday to maintain stability in their bullpen by signing right-hander Jared Burton to a two-year contract extension through the 2014 season. Burton, who was 3-2 with five saves and a 2.18 ERA in 64 appearances last season, signed with the Twins in November 2011. Now he'll make 2.05 million in 2013 and 3.25 million in 2014. The deal also includes a 3.6 million club option for the 2015 season with a 200,000 buyout. "Jared has been an ideal fit for our ballclub since the day he signed with us," Twins general manager Terry Ryan said in a statement. "He proved to be a reliable reliever for us and has helped stabilize the back end of our bullpen." In six major-league seasons, Burton, 31, is 13-5 with five saves and a 3.08 ERA.
