The Minnesota Twins have agreed to terms with right-handed reliever Jared Burton on a two-year, $5.5 million contract that includes a club option for the 2015 season.
The deal was worked out Thursday at baseball's winter meetings in Nashville, Tenn.
The 31-year-old Burton had five saves and a 2.18 ERA in 62 innings with 16 walks and 55 strikeouts in 2012, his first season with the Twins. Burton became the primary eighth-inning setup man for closer Glen Perkins. Burton previously pitched for the Cincinnati Reds.
Burton will make $2.05 million in 2013 and $3.25 million in 2014. The Twins hold a $3.6 million option for 2015 with a $200,000 buyout.

Eric Fryer has actually already been removed from the roster. In fact, Fryer has already signed on with the Minnesota Twins, so he will not be back. This is really no great loss, as his status as a prospect was pretty weak to begin with, and overall very short-lived. The Pirates acquired Fryer for disgruntled [...]
The Twins executed a fairly stunning trade today, made more surprising by what had happened just a couple of weeks ago. Ben Revere, who had been slotted as the starting center fielder after the Denard Span trade was put together, was instead dealt to Philadelphia today. The most surprising aspect to this for some people was that Revere fetched a seemingly more substantial haul than...
If you thought the Twins outfield was rough defensively with Delmon, just wait until next year….
San Jose State did their walk through on the National Mall before they played Navy. Pretty cool stuff right here.
The Twins will keep Jared Burton for another couple of seasons.
Here is a look at the guy that the Twins acquired that wasn’t DJ Hey Beef.
Ben Revere will man center field in Citizens Bank Park when the Philadelphia Phillies take the field in 2013. The outfielder was acquired on Thursday from the Minnesota Twins for pitchers Vance Worley and Trevor May.
The Phillies were one of a handful of teams who had interest in Revere. The 24-year-old Revere batted .294/.333/.342 last season. While he has blazing speed on the base...
The Philadelphia Phillies have acquired center fielder Ben Revere from the Twins, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. Vance Worley and Trevor May wil be going back to Minnesota to complete the deal.
Revere hit .294/.333/.342 with 13 doubles, six triples, 32 RBIs, 40 stolen bases and 70 runs scored in 511 at-bats last season. He also carried a .333 on-base percentage and a .342...

-It appears we’re just waiting on a decision from Michael Young. A trade seems close according to Jim Salisbury at CSNPhilly.com, with the only hold up being Young’s no-trade clause, which comes from his 10-5 rights.
If Young is traded, look for the Rangers to pick up $10 million or more of his $16 million contract for 2013. There has been speculation...
Ruben Amaro surprised me today. Not only did he make a good trade (which he has done before), he also got a player that I didn't see us getting. Ben Revere is a good, young, talented player who doesn't cost much. Yes, the Phillies paid a price, but no, this...
Minnesota acquired pitcher Vance Worley and minor-league pitching prospect Trevor May from the Philadelphia Phillies for outfielder Ben Revere, the Twins announced. Worley, 25, posted a 4.20 ERA in 133 innings for the Phillies in 2012, while suffering from a bone chip in his elbow for much of the season. He had surgery in September. Revere, 24, batted .294 with a .333 on-base...

-Thursday, 12:15pm: According to Todd Zolecki via Twitter, the Phillies have acquired Twins CF Ben Revere. Vance Worley is in the deal, according to Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com.
An executive told Zolecki, “If they get him, based on what’s available, they did all right.”
-Ben Revere has taken off in the last hour or so as a target...
According to multiple sources, including Todd Zolecki the Philadelphia Phillies have acquired Ben Revere from the Minnesota Twins. Revere, 24, played in 124 games last season for the Minnesota Twins. He recorded 40 stolen bases, which his speed could help this Phillies team. Revere also had 32 RBI's, scored 70 times, as well as 150 hits and 13 doubles.

After trading their centre fielder and leadoff man Dernard Span to the Nationals for Alex Meyer, in a trade that the number of supporters for both sides ‘winning the deal’ would indicate it was actually a pretty even swap, the Twins traded another outfielder today as they shipped Ben Revere to the Phillies for Vance Worley and Trevor May. Unlike the Span trade, it seems pretty...
When the Atlanta Braves won the B.J. Upton sweepstakes, outbidding their division rivals, there was pause in Philadelphia. When the first two days of baseball's winter meetings saw Angel Pagan and Shane Victorino also come off the free agent market, pause turned to panic. Who would the Phillies find to fill their center field void? Shortly after the Phillies brass departed...
• The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have acquired right-handed pitchers Vance Worley and Trevor May from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for outfielder Ben Revere.
Worley, 25, went 6-9 with a 4.20 ERA in 23 starts for the Phillies last season. May, 23, went 10-13 with a 4.87 ERA in 28 starts at Double-A Reading last season. Revere, 24, appeared in 254 games for...
It's only fitting that a guy with the patriotic last name of Revere would wind up playing in Philadelphia. The Phillies gave up a lot to get Revere, so the expectations will be high for the new center fielder. Here's what to expect from the newest Phillie.
